About

Welcome to the new and completely revised Peter Consterdine Portal.

“After 51 years in the martial arts this year (2014) and over 30 years in the specialist security and risk consultancy field I have amassed a wealth of knowledge and skills. I pass these on weekly to my training partners, students and other Instructors who may be on my Combat Coach programmes, but also want to ensure that this is available to the wider community.

This site is, therefore a ‘portal’ into a wealth of information, either  in the ‘article’, training tip, and blog area of the site and  is also a ‘doorway’ to the other membership sites and depending on your specific area of interest, as either an Instructor, or student, there should be a site and membership level to suit your needs.

Because my years of experience in traditional martial arts, the competition arena (both traditional and full contact), door security, close protection (bodyguarding ) and risk management, the volume of information I have to share is vast. A Newsletter, Training Tips, Downloads and an Advice Column are all to be found on this site, together with a range of discounted books and DVD’s, as well as book and video downloads.

With the BCA, BCKA and WCA sites mainly for the benefit of a membership, I wanted my own site specifically dedicated to providing information for traditional martial arts, self-protection Instructors, about the issues of adapting these traditional skills to a range of ‘personal combat’ requirements be it for the street, door, or any work related environment.”

The World Combat Association (WCA)

Launched in 2008, with Geoff Thompson as Co-Chief Instructor, the WCA is the organisation for our international groups and their Instructors. The WCA was, very much, a product of demand. For many years, overseas interest in the British Combat Association could not really be satisfied by a domestic U.K. organisation, hence the formation of the World Combat Association where all the benefits of membership open to our BCA people are now available globally. Find out about the benefits of membership…

The British Combat Association (BCA)

The British arm of The World Combat Association and the membership site for our U.K. clubs and Instructors. The BCA, (established in 2003) was the organisation through which I and my Co-Chief Instructor, Geoff Thompson, broke the mould and brought self defence and practical martial arts out of the darkness and produced, over the years, some of the UK’s foremost unarmed combat Instructors. The Association goes from strength to strength and to find out how membership could benefit you and your students enter here. The BCA has been poorly copied but never equalled.

The British Combat Karate Association (BCKA)

Launched in 2010, the BCKA is a ‘home’ specifically for the Karate Instructors and their students, who have become disenchanted with either the politics of the large style associations, or feel restricted from developing their core art into a more rounded and practical system.  Having a ‘karate’ version of the BCA has always been an aim of Geoff and myself and the BCKA has become a member of the UK Karate governing body, the English Karate Federation (EKF) and is currently in the process of joining the Scottish Karate Governing Body (SKGB). This will allow competitive students access to the English and Scottish Karate teams, yet give freedom to grow.
